A few weeks ago, we were lucky to attend the opening party of a really nice and new Italian deli: Bottega da Giulia in Stuttgart West. I’ve passed the place a few times while it was beeing renovated and was curious about what it’s ging to be. But it was just by chance, that I saw the invitation for the opening on Facebook a few days before. And we’ve decided to join, of course, because my boyfriend and me absolutely love food, so we couldn’t miss that chance!
And we were not dissapointed! The place looked really warm and elegant at the same time: Floor-to-ceiling windows and big wooden shelves, filled with Italian delicacies. The atmosphere felt like we’ve stepped into an Italian family reunion, only people were much more stylish. Italians not only know how to cook, they really know how to dress, too! Perfect combination!
Of course we had to try all the antipasti and everything the counter had to offer: From mozarella, gorgonzola and parmigano, to taleggio and robiola. For the meat lovers prosciutto di Parma, salame, and salsiccia. Not to forget the bruschetta and wine – delizioso! We were in happy food heaven. One can buy everything that the Italian heart and body wants: Pasta, wine, oil, balsamico and a lot more. And you can not only shop but also eat there or have a cappuchino, as they offer lunch specials during the day.
The owner, Giulia Cardascia, is only 23 years old and has made her dream come true with the little shop. But this doesn’t come as a surprise, as her father runs the famous Italian restaurant OGGI at Schlossplatz. Actually the whole family owns Italian places all over Stuttgart. So if you eat your lunch there, you can see her dad cooking in the open kitchen, while Giulia and her mom look after the store and service.
Great food, a nice shop and a charming family, running it. What do you want more? We will certainly be back!
